STUDENT HIGHLIGHT – Morgan Ivey, Graduate of May 2021

  1. What are your favorite things about CCMH? “All the hands-on practice! Hydrotherapy! New Special Event Workshops - with not being able to go off campus for special events, the new on-site special events are so great! They give us an idea of what is available in future courses beyond graduation. My favorites have been Guasha, Myofascial Release and Manual Lymphatic Drainage!”
  1. What advice you would give to a prospective student? “It’s a lot to take on, but if you study, and are passionate about this, it will get easier. Ask questions! No question is a bad one, and you never know who else is wondering the same thing."
  1. What has CCMH helped you discover on your journey to becoming a Massage Therapist? "How much interest I have in the human body! There are SO many conditions to learn about, and our body is so adaptable!"
  1. Why did you choose CCMH? "I loved the different clinic options and how much hands-on I’d have with the general public."
  1. What inspired you to consider a career in Massage Therapy? "I’d had dance injuries, and used chiropractic and massage to help me recover. My massage therapist was a graduate of CCMH, and I’d always ask questions about what she was doing and how I could stretch and help myself at home. I really wanted to help others, but I wasn’t sure how, and then thinking of massage just made sense!"
  1. Describe what it's like to be a student here at CCMH. "It’s stressful at some points! Everyone is so adaptable though, especially with Covid. The students and faculty are nice here, and the school is small, with great class structure."
  1. Tell me about your favorite instructor. "I have more than one! One of my favorite instructors has been my T.A., my instructor, and my Clinic Supervisor! I love how she communicates with me. If I need to change something, she gives gentle corrections, but does not shame me. We have a great connection! My other favorite instructor just knows SO much! Watching him demonstrate a technique and then seeing the difference it makes is incredible."
  1. What moment that stands out to you from your studies here? "Making memories with my classmates, learning new skills, and having new experiences with specialties that I’m interested in."
  1. What has been your biggest challenge here at CCMH? "Finding a different way to study. I came here right out of high school and studying there is NOTHING like this. Another thing to get used to was doing practical exams. Getting in the groove in the beginning was my biggest challenge."
  1. How has CCMH helped you succeed as a student? "They’ve supported me, and everyone, as a student. They’ve adapted with Covid to get the information to the students while we were unable to be on-site, and then helped us to catch up once we were back on-site. The teachers are SO supportive! They all say that they will do whatever they can to help us succeed. The students here are so great! I have no problem going to the other classes and asking if anyone needs help with anything. We are all in this together!"
