PRACTICE LOCATIONS: Home-based practice in Greenfield, plus seasonal practice at Fox Harbour Resort in Wallace, both in Nova Scotia

What were you doing prior to attending CCMH?

"Life before CCMH for me was working in a Human Resource department for eleven years, never truly loving what I was doing but scared to make a change. Upon some mental health struggles, I found myself in the middle of the pandemic as a stay-at-home mom wanting more in my life. I love helping others and being my own boss was always a dream, but something I never thought would happen."

What made you choose massage therapy?

"My best friend had asked me to attend an intro to massage weekend with her as she had interest in the course. I thought why not! Little did I know I was about to walk through those doors and completely fall in love with massage. I walked away on Sunday knowing this was what I needed my next step to be in life while my friend decided to go another path."

What was it like for you as a student at CCMH?

"I bought the pretty pens and the colorful notes books and headed through the doors for my first day, nervous and not knowing what was ahead of me for 16 straight months. Life as student was one of the biggest challenges I took on, with two kids at home, over an hour travel each way and lots of studying it was long days but meeting so many amazing people who became my close friends they always had my back when I thought of giving up."

What advice would you give to new CCMH students?

"Take it one test at a time and it will all flow together in the end. Don’t be afraid to ask the questions, chances are someone else is wondering too! It all comes from the hands, although this career is physically hard, it’s so mentally rewarding. Watching people decrease in pain, tension and stress is what makes every minute worth it!"

How are you doing now?

"I feel I am exactly where I need to be in life at 35 years old. It’s never too late for a change! My goals were to provide a therapeutic treatment in a calm relaxed environment, and working my small home-based business in Greenfield (just outside Truro) where I live is exactly what I do! And I love sharing my time with the beautiful Fox Harbour Resort!
